...Read MoreWe, the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, are a religious Congregation founded to be a sign of love, unity, and forgiveness in a broken and divided world. It is our sincere prayer that you will continually experience love in your heart and express this love to people around you that we may be one, as Christ wishes.
The Congregation of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is an indigenous Institute founded in the Archdiocese of Benin City, Edo State on April 6, 1975, by the Catholic Archbishop Emeritus of Benin City, Most Rev. P. E. Ekpu. The Sacred Heart of Jesus serves as our Model and Inspiration; doing all out of love for the one that has called us- Christ. We uphold "Unity in diversity" As this is the nucleus of our Congregation.
This is evident in our religious Habit that, uniquely demonstrates modesty, elegance, and African-ness. We express our love for God through our services to humanity in the following ways: Spreading Devotion to the Sacred Heart, Education, Health care, Counseling, Retreat, The elevation of the dignity of the downtrodden womanhood / Human Trafficking, and social works. We are founded for this aim; to enhance the realization of Jesus' prayer "That they may be one" (In 17:21-22). Thus, our motto is "UT UNUM SINT" And our greeting is "IN JESUS, WE ARE ONE!" Being an indigenous Congregation, we strive to integrate into our lives, all that is good, true, and beautiful in our culture.
